What is the OECD and how does the UK work with it?
The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) brings together representatives of 30 member states (not to mention a number of observers) to work for a better world economy by sharing expertise, exchanging views and producing reliable statistical analysis. The scope of activity which takes place at the OECD is quite considerable, and involves a wide range of UK government departments.
The UK was a founder member of the OECD in 1961, which was created out of the post-World War II OEEC (the Organisation for European Economic Co-operation) under the Marshall Plan. We remain one of the largest budgetary contributors: in 2003 the UK’s contribution was £18.5 million - 7% of the total budget.

The UK Delegation to the OECD
The UK can get a lot out of the OECD and the high quality work it produces, and it is our job to make sure this happens.
Our website tells you more about what we do - we hope you find it both interesting and useful.
