Departmental accounts

Departmental accounts are a system of planning, controlling and reporting on public spending across government.

Under the Government Resources and Accounts Act 2000, we are required to prepare departmental accounts for each financial year 1st April - 31st March.

The reports are similar in many respects to the annual accounts prepared by private sector businesses. They contain the primary financial statements recording the full costs of activities, our assets and liabilities as well as providing information on how resources have been used to meet objectives.

For the 2010-11 Departmental accounts, go to our Departmental reports page.
