Change of Her Majesty's Ambassador to the Kyrgyz Republic

Ms Judith Margaret Farnworth has been appointed Her Majesty's Ambassador to the Kyrgyz Republic.

This was published under the 2010 to 2015 Conservative and Liberal Democrat coalition government

She will succeed Mr David Moran who remains Her Majesty’s Ambassador to the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Ms Farnworth will take up her appointment during February 2012, and is the UK’s first resident Ambassador to the Kyrgyz Republic.

Ms Farnworth joined the FCO in 1991 and began her career as a Research Analyst specialising in the Soviet Union. She has worked extensively in Central and Eastern Europe on EU and broader European issues. She has been posted to Ukraine twice, most recently as Deputy Head of Mission, headed the Political Section in Prague during the Czech Republic’s accession to the European Union and was Deputy Head of Mission and Her Majesty’s Consul in Riga.

On her appointment, Ms Farnworth commented “I am delighted to have been appointed Britain’s Ambassador to the Kyrgyz Republic. As the Foreign Secretary noted earlier this year, the decision to open up a British Embassy in Bishkek reflects the Kyrgyz Republic’s strategic importance to Britain. I am keen to build on the existing strong bilateral relations between our two countries and look forward to the honour and privilege of opening up a new mission.”
