Hurricane Leslie nears Bermuda

The Bermuda Weather Service (BWS) has advised that Hurricane Leslie will affect the territory over the weekend of 8-9 September.

The Bermuda Weather Service (BWS) has advised that Hurricane Leslie is likely to affect the territory from the weekend of 8-9 September. High winds, possibly exceeding 90 miles per hour, heavy rain and dangerous sea swells are forecast.

Bermuda’s South Shore beaches have been closed and the local authorities are strongly advising people against entering the water.

Travellers can monitor the progress of storms on the National Hurricane Center website at www.nhc.noaa.gov. The hurricane season in Bermuda normally runs from June to November.
