Minister for Africa welcomes Ugandan Vice President to London

Minister for Africa Henry Bellingham has welcomed Uganda Vice President Edward Ssekandi to London.

The Minister for Africa welcomed Uganda’s Vice President Edward Ssekandi to London for the Olympic Games today at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. The Vice President is leading the official Ugandan delegation to the Olympics and will be cheering on Uganda’s team of 16 athletes.

They discussed a range of issues including British investment in Uganda and human rights. Commenting after the meeting the Minister for Africa Henry Bellingham said:

“Uganda is a valued partner for the UK. I commended the Vice President on Uganda’s important contribution to the African Union mission in Somalia (AMISOM). We agreed that we are committed to further strengthening the relationship between our two countries and I wish the Ugandan team the very best of luck in the Games”.
