Minister for Africa reopens British Embassy in Co?te d’Ivoire

Minister for Africa has reopened the British Embassy in Co?te d’Ivoire during his second visit to the country.

This was published under the 2010 to 2015 Conservative and Liberal Democrat coalition government

The Foreign Office Minister said:

“I am delighted to be able to visit Abidjan and formally re-open the British Embassy. The new Embassy is a sign of the UK’s growing commitment to Co?te d’Ivoire. The UK has worked closely with President Ouattara and his government since his election, and we will continue to do so in the years ahead.”

The re-opening of the Embassy follows the announcement by the Foreign Secretary to Parliament on 7 September 2011.

The last time the UK had an Embassy in Co?te d’Ivoire was in 2005.
