FCO Minister welcomes meeting of Palestinian and Israeli negotiators in Jordan

Minister for the Middle East and North Africa, Alistair Burt calls on both sides to show the political leadership needed to break the current impasse.

Commenting on the meeting between Israeli and Palestinian negotiators in Jordan on 3 January, FCO Minister for the Middle East and North Africa, Alistair Burt said:

“I welcome the efforts of King Abdullah of Jordan and Jordanian Foreign Minister, Nasser Judeh, to bring the parties together under the framework of the Quartet statement of 23 September. The announcement of further planned meetings is a positive development. We call on both sides to take this opportunity and show the political leadership and courage needed to break the current impasse and make progress towards a negotiated two-state solution.”
