Foreign Office Minister meets UN Special Envoy for Western Sahara

Foreign Office Minister Alistair Burt underlined UK support in his meeting with the UN Secretary-General's Special Envoy for Western Sahara Ambassador Christopher Ross.

This was published under the 2010 to 2015 Conservative and Liberal Democrat coalition government

After the meeting the Foreign Office Minister said:

“I was delighted to meet Ambassador Ross to underline the UK’s support for his work. The status of Western Sahara has been disputed for the past 35 years. Generations of families have been separated during this time and the absence of a political solution is, above all else, a humanitarian tragedy. The Ambassador and I discussed the current state of the negotiations between the parties and shared ideas on the role of the international community in resolving the dispute.”
