Exploring commercial opportunities for British business in Iraq

Foreign Office Minister Lord Howell welcomed the Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister H.E Rowsh Nuri Shaways to the Foreign Office on 9 September.

This was published under the 2010 to 2015 Conservative and Liberal Democrat coalition government

They met to discuss the latest political developments in Iraq and to explore the commercial opportunities for British business in Iraq.

The Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister was visiting London to attend a conference on the Iraqi mining sector, and was accompanied by the chairman of the National Investment Commission, Dr Sami Al Araji, and the new Iraqi Charge d’Affaires to London, Dr Moheiaddin Hussein Abdullah.

Speaking in May, Lord Howell said that trade and commerce with Iraq was a key strand of the bilateral relationship in a speech to the Iraq-British Business Council.
