Foreign Secretary meets French Foreign Minister
Foreign Secretary William Hague and French Foreign Minister Alain Juppé to discuss UK-France cooperation on Libya during their meeting in London on 25 July.
The Foreign Secretary is hosting the French Foreign Minister Alain Juppe Monday evening. It is the first official visit of M. Juppe to London as Foreign Minister. Welcoming M. Juppe, the Foreign Secretary said:
“Cooperation between the UK and France is at its strongest since WWII. Ours is a longstanding, solid and strategic partnership. It enables us to work across the range of our highest foreign policy priorities, which of course include issues such as Libya, Syria, Iran, Afghanistan and the Middle East Peace Process. Today, M. Juppe and I will discuss UK-France cooperation on Libya: our continued support for the NATO effort , our determination that UNSCRs 1970 and 1973 be fully implemented, our resolve that Qadhafi must leave power, and our firm belief that only a political solution led and owned by the Libyan people will enable them to realise their rights and fulfil their aspirations. It is for the people of Libya to determine their own future.”
