Change of Her Majesty's Ambassador to Colombia

Mr Lindsay Croisdale-Appleby has been appointed Her Majesty's Ambassador to the Republic of Colombia.

This was published under the 2010 to 2015 Conservative and Liberal Democrat coalition government

He will succeed Mr John Dew who will be transferring to another Diplomatic Service appointment. Mr Appleby will take up his appointment during November 2012.

Mr Appleby joined the FCO in 1996 and served in Latin America and at the UK missions to the EU and the UN before being appointed Principal Private Secretary to Foreign Secretary William Hague.

On his appointment as Her Majesty’s Ambassador to the Republic of Colombia, Mr Appleby said:

“I am delighted to have the opportunity to serve in Colombia. Colombia is a key partner for the UK in South America and there is tremendous potential to develop further the existing partnerships on international security, trade, and human rights. President Santos’ recent visit to the UK underlined the vibrancy and importance of the bilateral relationship.”
