The Cyber Security Challenge UK has unveiled a new cipher (above) linked to the London Conference on Cyberspace.
The new cipher, designed for the Challenge by Senad Zukic, a previous cipher winner, and now employed by PricewaterhouseCoopers in its Threat and Vulnerabilities Management team, is the seventh by the Challenge since its inception in July 2010, and offers a new test for those who love to solve its digital conundrums.
The Cyber Security Challenge UK is a not for profit organisation set up to increase the pool of future professionals available to the cyber security sector and boost the UK’s ability to defend itself online. It runs a series of online games and face to face competitions designed to uncover the UK’s hidden cyber talent. It is sponsored by a combination of government departments, universities and cyber security employers including PWC, QinetiQ, Sophos, SANS Institute, HP and Cassidian.
Cyber Security Challenge UK ciphers are open to anyone around the world who wants to test their code breaking capability against their peers. They usually appear quite obvious on first glance but become more complex the closer you look. This new cipher is no exception and will test participants’ literal and lateral thinking.
