Ching He Huang

Ching He Huang

Television chef Ching He Huang was born in Taiwan and moved to the UK with her family when she was ten years old.  She set up her own oriental fresh food business at 21 and has become a widely recognised television personality. Watch her short film below.

Ching believes the way British people have embraced Chinese food reflects their overall open-minded nature and adventurous spirit. She decided to go into business herself after sampling a disappointing noodle salad from her local supermarket and believed she could do much better. From humble beginnings selling healthy lunches to a handful of blue-chip companies in London, her business grew exponentially. She found the UK was fertile ground for young entrepreneurs like her. Her reputation grew and before long she was invited to demonstrate her Chinese Cookery skills to the nation and given her own TV series. Ching continues to be personally committed to making Chinese food more accessible.

Ching’s television work has taken her all over the UK. For her, the overwhelmingly positive reaction to her Chinese food and cookery has demonstrated how open-minded British people are. In the film she highlights how Chinese food and cooking has taken off in the UK in a big way. She travels to the Scottish coast, where she introduces local fishermen to new ways of cooking their prize catch of monkfish. Everywhere she has travelled in the UK she has been struck by how open people have been to learning new things.

Ching was born in Taiwan in 1978. She moved to the UK with her family when she was ten. After graduating from Queen Mary University London with a First in Economics, she set up her own Chinese fresh food business. Her reputation grew and she was encouraged to demonstrate her home Chinese cookery skills on TV. She was given her own TV series on the UK Food Channel in 2005. Ching has had several cookery books published including Chinese Cooking Made Easy.
