Syria

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is currently investigating allegations that Syria developed a nuclear reactor secretly with North Korean help at Dair Alzour (or Al Kibar).

IAEA inspectors visited the site in June 2008 and took samples. We urge Syria to comply with the IAEA's requests to begiven further access to the site and to other related locations in Syria, and to provide documentation about the site. We believe it is in Syria's interests to provide full transparency in order to allow the Agency to investigate effectively.
