Afghan President Karzai visited the UK from 21-25 October. Karzai said during his visit "Afghanistan is like a phoenix. It rises again and again". The President continued, "Britain is enabling Afghanistan to stand on its own two feet".
During his visit President Karzai:
- met with Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth and His Royal Highness Prince Charles
- met Gordon Brown to discuss bilateral relations including the role of Britain in reconstruction
- addressed students, teachers, scientists and researchers at Oxford Union.
