Participants included Denise Holt, HM Ambassador to Madrid, officials from FCO and UK Borders Agency, senior advisers to the Spanish Government, academic experts and a Counsellor from the Moroccan Embassy in Madrid.
Discussions in the seminar
Subjects raised in the seminar included:
- political and practical steps needed to build co-operation with countries outside the EU, in order to assist the management of migration at source
- approaches to the management of migration across EU member states
- the effect of EU border controls on countries outside the EU
- implications for future EU migration policy
