INSTRUMENT
Common Position 2004/161/CFSP amended by Common Position 2008/135/CFSP (19/2/2007)

MEASURES
  • Prohibition of financing, financial assistance, brokering services and other services related to the arms embargo, and embargo on equipment which might be used for internal repression.
  • Assets freeze and travel ban continued in respect of list of targeted individuals, subject to specific exemptions.

Valid until 20 February 2009

COMMENTS
A UK arms embargo has been in force since 12/5/00. See also the Summary of Additional UK Restrictions on the Export of Strategic Goods.



POLICY RESTRICTIONS
The Government will not grant export licences for dual-use equipment where there is a clear risk that the equipment would be used in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
