Partner University Placement Scheme

The Partner University Placement Scheme (PUPS) is a programme designed to promote social inclusion and ethnic diversity within the FCO. The programme is open to 1st and 2nd year undergraduates who are in receipt of a full maintenance grant or from a minority ethnic background, and attend one of our partner universities.

We have partnered with ten universities who were chosen because they:

  • scored highly in terms of academic achievement as measured by the Higher Education Standards Authority
  • have a high number of UK national black and minority ethnic students and
  • have a high number of students in receipt of a full maintenence grant or equivalent.

Our partner universities are:

  • Bath
  • Bristol
  • Cambridge
  • Durham
  • Edinburgh
  • King’s College London
  • Manchester
  • Nottingham
  • Oxford
  • University College London

To gain a place on this scheme, students will be asked to demonstrate an interest in learning more about the Foreign & Commonwealth Office and what we do.

Applications for places in Summer 2010 will open in Spring 2010. Full details will be available on this webpage at that time.
