The following procurements are being conducted by the Corporate Procurement Group (CPG):
The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) needs to maintain continuity of its business critical desktop infrastructure service (known as Firecrest) by re-procuring its existing Firecrest support and development contract. The existing contract provides for the day-to-day operation and maintenance of the Firecrest system, user support and the enhancement of the system and services to meet changes in business requirements. Firecrest provides the global Microsoft based IT platform on which many of the FCO’s business applications operate. It also provides the FCO’s business productivity capability (e-mail, word-processing and mobile working capabilities, amongst others), as well as the hardware sitting on users’ desks.
The FCO also wants to achieve better value for money in the delivery of service management and integration activities across the ICT estate through a more risk-based commercial incentive model. The FCO is therefore looking to transfer the day-to-day management responsibility (but not the contracts) for its successor Firecrest contract, its business critical Oracle based ERP platform (known as “Prism”) support and development contract and, potentially, other ICT service contracts to a Service Management & Integration (SMI) supplier. This will be a new contract for the FCO that will cover services that are new to the FCO as well as services that are currently provided either in-house or an incumbent supplier.
These procurements offer a once in a decade opportunity to deliver significant cost saving and other benefits to the FCO, particularly in response to the FCO’s and HM Government (HMG) ICT Strategies, the Sustainability agenda and the spending controls.
