If you want to study a course leading to a postgraduate qualification in the United Kingdom, you may need to apply for an Academic Technology Approval Scheme (ATAS) certificate.
You may also need an ATAS Certificate if you wish to carry out research here for longer than 6 months.
Please note: The ATAS website will be closed from 17:00 on 21 December until 0900 Tuesday 3 January 2012. It will therefore not be possible to access or submit any applications during this time. Any enquiries sent to the ATAS mailbox during this period will receive a response from 3 January 2012 onwards. We strongly advise students to submit their ATAS application in advance of this closure to avoid any unnecessary delays.
You will need this before you apply for your visa. ATAS is only required for certain courses. You need to check if you are affected before you apply for your visa.
