When the first Foreign Secretary was appointed in 1782, the Foreign Office fitted into two fairly modest houses in London.
Today, the FCO's estate includes a number of historic buildings in the UK including a Grade 1 listed building in Whitehall, as well as many distinctive embassies and other posts around the world.
