Family information
The DSFA lends a helping hand on all family matters, no matter how delicate the issue may be. A special Family Information Adviser – who can be contacted in person, on the phone or by email – offers guidance and confidential advice whether members are in the UK or overseas.
Services offered include:
- a returning to the UK course for members returning to the UK or for foreign-born spouses and partners coming to the UK for the first time
- separation and divorce support
- support for retired members through our special co-ordinator who works with Regional Representatives who run network groups in the UK and beyond
- travel workbooks for children specifically designed for transient children
- a Single Parent Officers’ Group (SPOG) which looks at the specific problems experienced by single parent officers
- overseas adoption advice from members who have gone through the process
- a family information handbook for members with useful information before, during and after postings.
