To find out whether a treaty has been extended to an overseas territory, either browse through the listing for each overseas territory, or look for the date of the treaty, or its title or subject matter.
If you know the date, that is the date of adoption or conclusion of the treaty, click the Browse by date button below, and then select the appropriate page for that date. The treaties are listed in reverse chronological order. (N.B. ILO Conventions are listed separately at the end of the date list in numerical order.) You will find a list of the treaties for that date range and a 'download the treaties' button at the foot of the page.
For example, if you know that the date of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations is 18 April 1961, Browse by date, and then select the 1961-1970 page. To download the tables which show status information for each OT, click on the red pdf icon at the foot of the page. Extension to a given OT is indicated by an entry in the adjacent box, titled 'Method of Extension'. A blank box shows there has been no extension to that OT, unless a message to the contrary appears in the “Territorial Provision” box above.
If you do not know the date, you should use the Browse by subject option. The treaties are listed under subject headings, again in reverse chronological order, and a 'download the treaties' button is available at the foot of the page.
