Our policy
We have a range of policies and structures which help shape and support our goals on diversity.
Dignity At Work
Dignity At Work outlines our policy on staff rights and obligations within the FCO.
Diversity Equality Scheme
The Diversity Equality Scheme – introduced in 2007 – pulls together our earlier, separate Race, Disability and Gender Equality schemes. It provides a framework to make sure the FCO meets its statutory duties and promotes inclusive management so all staff, from whatever background, are encouraged to fulfil their potential.
The scheme applies to all staff covered by UK employment law. It requires employers to make progress towards equality in the areas of recruitment, retention and development.
Revised Disability Equality Scheme (April 2008)
The FCO has published its revised Disability Equality Scheme (DES) and Action Plan. This follows a public and internal consultation of the views of individuals and organisations on whether this plan will help us improve our work in this important area and meet the requirements of the Disability Equality Duty. Your views on the revised Scheme and Action Plan are welcome (see Related Documents section on this page).
Please email diversity2@fco.gov.uk stating "DES" in the subject header.
