Legal Status: Kosovo is independent, supervised by the international community following the conclusion of the political process to determine Kosovo’s final status envisaged in UN Security Council Resolution 1244.
Government: The Kosovo government has full responsibility for public administration. Three international presences supervise Kosovo’s independence: the EU’s police and rule of law mission (EULEX), headed by Yves de Kermabon; the International Civilian Office (ICO), headed by the International Civilian Representative, Peter Feith, double-hatted as the EU’s Special Representative; and the UN Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK), headed by the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General (SRSG), Lamberto Zannier.
Main Political Parties: Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), New Kosovo Alliance (AKR), Democratic League of Dardania (LDD), Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK) and Serbian Liberal Party (SLS).
