This year's European Youth Week marks twenty years of EU programmes for young people, developing community participation, active citizenship, and social inclusion.

Events are taking place across Europe to mark the week. As European Capital of Culture for 2008, Liverpool is hosting a national conference, to be held at the Contemporary Urban Centre from 5th - 8th of November. 150 young people will be taking part in a series of discussions on the role of youth in shaping the future of Europe.

The Big Hope Global Youth Conference, held in Liverpool earlier this year, has been nominated for a European Youth Week award, as one of the best Youth in Action projects from across Europe.

The British Council are also running a competition to find the best 'Intercultural Dialogue' project or activity during European Youth Week. The winner will receive £1000 grant from Eurodesk UK and the Youth in Action Programme to fund a further development of their idea.
