Foreign & Commonwealth Office people work in the UK and worldwide in a range of exciting and rewarding jobs.
Our work, and our staff teams, fall into three broad categories:
- political department staff handle the UK’s relations with other countries and with international bodies like NATO, the United Nations and the European Union. They work, too, on areas such as counter-terrorism, people smuggling, drugs trafficking and the arms trade
- staff in our service delivery departments provide a range of essential services direct to the public, from promoting British business overseas to issuing UK visas, through to supporting UK nationals imprisoned abroad
- our corporate service staff are responsible for the smooth running of the FCO at home, including human resources, IT and finance.
